Are you conscious about your hair? Are you one of those who want to avoid baldness as much as possible? Do you want to grow your hair back? Many people are fond of using hair growing shampoos and like products just to prevent baldness. If you’re one of them then there’s good news for you.
Japanese scientists from Tsuji Lab Research Institute for Science and Technology located at the Tokyo University of Science proved that they were able to successfully implant follicles from stem cells onto hairless mice. Their experiment reaped positive results. They believed that this could cure baldness.
According to Professor Takashi Tsuji, who was the leader of the scientists who performed the experiment, they discovered that hair follicles can actually be grown with adult stem cells. They used this method instead of extracting stem cells from embryos which is the usual practice if stem cells are to be used to form new tissues and organs.
The study claimed that when these follicles were implanted, hairless mice eventually grew hair and even continued to grow normally once their old hairs fell out. They’re now looking at the possibility of using the same method in curing baldness among people.
