Spinal Cord Injury Treatment
Stem Cell Treatment for Spinal Cord Injury
Stem cells have shown to be promising in the treatment of spinal cord injuries. The ASCAAC has had a long history and solid experience in effectively treating patients with spinal cord injuries.
However, it must be understood that various factors may affect the extent of each patient’s condition:
It is important to note that, patient to patient results vary based on individual conditions.
•Spinal cord injury may result in dead nerves, which the stem cells may be used to replace.
•Stem cells are beneficial in stimulating growth of new cells which can be used to insulate the nerve sheath and generate the growth of damaged nerves.
• Stem cells have the ability to protect the cells in the location of the affected area through the release of protective factors when these are introduced to the spinal cord a short time after injury has occurred.
• Recent studies have shown that the human astrocytes which form the major support center for the central nervous system’s cells shows good potential in treating spinal cord injuries as well as other disorders of the nervous system through transplantation.
Stem Cell Treatment or Therapy is intended as an improvement on ones condition. It is not a “cure all” or “miracle pill.” The doctors have performed hundreds of procedures with great results and results will vary according to each individual patient!
